Guidelines for Management Team Meetings

1. Accept and acknowledge different ideas

 

2. Suspend immediate judgment

 

3. Restate and clarify, to the satisfaction of the other person, before responding

 

4. Assume there is rationality behind the idea/argument presented

 

5. Ask questions to understand the underlying rationality 

 

6. Respond respectfully

 

7. Resist sidebar conversations when someone is speaking

 

8. Be open and brave. Don’t say anything on a break that you wouldn’t say in the group (read #6 again)
